Erica + Matt Married, Prairie du Chien Wedding Photographer

First of all HUMONGOUS THANKS to Stone House Photography for having me along.... some things are just meant to be.  Although I feel awful that Hannah's second shooter came down sick, I feel very fortunate to be a part of Erica and Matt's incredibly day filled with true love and beautiful meaning.  First of all, anyone performing a marriage while holding the Sand County Almanac gets huge props, I literally almost shrieked when I saw it!  Hannah and Matt live out in California, but have roots back near the Mississippi and choose their wedding location where the Mississippi River and the Wisconsin River converge.  Both are interested in environmental issues, especially  water conservation.  It was only more fitting that the Mississippi was at flood stage and was in going through geomorphological changes, something Matt holds near to his heart... and his profession :)

Perched on the lookout at Wyalusing State Park Matt and Erica exchanged their vows they wrote for each other, and replanted an olive tree as a sign of their love.  Although a bit breezy and perhaps a tad chilly, the wedding party looked amazing... oh and I haven't even talked about her dress yet!  I couldn't stop staring at it!  It is by far my favorite dress of the past 3 years! Very elegant, and very Erica.  After the ceremony a reception followed at the Peterson Shelter where fine wine, cheese, catfish, and other scrumptious hours d'oeuvres were served.  Then for pictures we traveled along a hiking path, climbed ladders to take pictures in caves... these guys were amazing... seriously how many brides climb ladders into caves???

Dinner was catered by Grass Roots BBQ (really, how fitting?) from Desoto WI and what an amazing meal! Then the band kicked in...  The Stella Novas (smooth and fun Jazz band) from the Madison area played in a 3 piece setting which included at times the cello, violin, accordion, ukulele, hawaiian guitar, and vocals... if you haven't heard their Chicken Song, be sure to check them out :)  It turns out Erica's family is quite talented in the dancing arena as well!

Although I love all weddings, this one really hit home with me, as Hannah said "these are your kind of people"... and she was right!  Thank you Erica and Matt for really making my day!  Best Wishes and continue to make a difference for the fishes!

Do you see it?  The SAND CTY ALMANAC!

If you're ever out in CA, get in touch and we should totally hang out. We love guests and getting to know new, fantastic people. :)
